I don't know where they came from especially since for the past two years I have had a professional lawn care service treat my lawn once a month for weeds, grubs and the like. Several weeks ago I was cutting my lawn and noticed weeds of several different varieties growing from the edges of my lawn. I know it's just grass, but I was quite disturbed. In the middle of my disgust with my yard I began to think about the weeds in my own life and was I just as turned off by them. It brought me to contemplate about weeds and the many weeds in the lives of believer's. What makes a weed a weed? A weed is often defined as any plant growing "out of place." - The same is true in the life of a believer Plants that have no use are often considered weeds. What's in your life that is just taking up space? What's in your life that is not making room for your fruit to grow? Or should I say who is in your life that is not allowing you to grow? In agriculture, any plant that competes with the crop plants or harms the harvested product is a weed. What or who is in your life that is competing with the gifts and talents that God has given you. What is in your life that is causing harm to relationship with God? Some weeds cause a lot more initial damage than others but in the end they all have the same result. DANGER: there are some things in life we jump right on when we notice that wear being attacked, but there are other things in our lives that we let go because it doesn't seem like its causing any harm. Characteristics of a weed Weeds can grow virtually anywhere, scientist call this adaptation/ the ability to survive anywhere. In the greenest garden or the desolate desert one thing you can be sure of is that it is perfect breeding ground for weeds. Generally they are very rapid growing and spread easily by abundant seeds or vegetative. Most weeds are nonnative plants and are difficult to control. They often are poisonous or have thorns. They may release allelochemicals, which inhibit the growth of other plants. 1. Weeds can grow anywhere. It does not matter who you are we are susceptible to sin. Romans 7:22-23 says, acirc;euro;oelig;When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. It does not matter if you are the Pastor or a pew member. It does not matter if you've been saved for 80 years or 8 minutes; sin will find you. 2. Rapid growth - it does not take a long time for sin to develop, because it is constantly on the prowl and in every part of life that we encounter daily. Sin also produces more sin. 3.
